The company maintains several advantages over its competitors.

Reliability. Southern consistently achieves reliability in the mid-90th percentile, and since the company’s reorganization in the summer of 2003 has achieved near 100% reliability with all of its customers. The company maintains one of the highest spare parts to aircraft ratios in the industry. At Southern, reliability is the single most important metric from which we base our success.

Experience. Members of Southern’s senior management team average over 20 years experience in the commercial aviation industry, and have extensive experience in operating and maintaining the infrastructure of a wide-body cargo airline. Experience alone isn’t enough to guarantee success, however, and Southern’s employees work hard to improve upon the company's already outstanding track record for operational excellence.

Fleet. Southern operates a fleet of B747-200 freighters, all of which are powered by General Electric CF6-50E2 turbine engines. The uniformity of our fleet allows for significant economies of scale with regard to our maintenance and operations, which in turn creates a higher level of performance and reliability for our customers.

Focus. In the airline industry, bigger is not always better, but customer-focused service is always the right policy. Each member of our team, from the most senior to the most junior, is intimately familiar with the operational needs of our customers, and can react promptly to any changing customer requirement.
